KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — Just like her hit song, Barbie now brings one of The Best singers into its 'Music' series.
American-Swiss entertainer Tina Turner will join the likes of David Bowie, Gloria Estefan and Elvis Presley to be made into a Barbie Signature Music doll.
The doll by Mattel features Turner’s unique puffy hairstyle that she rocked during the 1980s, as well as her denim jacket, mini-skirt and black sheer tights and heels.
"I am honoured to welcome my Barbie into the group of trailblazing women already represented and introduce more kids to my journey,” Turner said in a press statement.
"Barbie is proud to honour the unmatched career of the ‘Queen of Rock n' Roll’ with a Tina Turner Barbie doll,” Mattel said on Instagram.
It added that the doll's outfit was inspired by Turner’s look in the What's Love Got To Do With It music video.
According to Mattel's principal designer Bill Greening, Turner herself chose the look and design of the doll.
"We used a lot of screen grabs to see the hair at all angles,” Greening said in a statement.
"Lots of teasing and hairspray was involved!”
Released in 1984, What’s Love Got To Do With It is the singer’s first and only No.1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. It also won three Grammy Awards in 1985.
