SINGAPORE, March 17 — A coffeeshop at Jurong West will be shut today after it was found to have violated several health violations related to its restrooms.
According to National Environment Agency (NEA), the eating house, at Block 503 Jurong West Avenue 1 #01-855, had failed to maintain sanitary fittings in good working condition and repair. It also did not provide hand soap in the toilet.
The whole eating house, together with all of its food stalls, will be required to cease operations for a day.
The coffeeshop operator has also been fined S$1,000.
According to the NEA, main operators of coffeeshops, food courts and canteens who accumulate 12 or more demerit points during a 12-month period may have their licences suspended for a period of either one, two or three days.
“NEA takes a serious view of these offences and would like to remind food operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices at all times... NEA will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act,” the suspension notice wrote. — TODAY
