SAO PAULO, July 15 — Five people, including three teens, were killed in a mass shooting in the Sao Paulo suburb of Carapicuiba after the World Cup final in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday night.
According to witnesses, assailants in a black Celtic and a silver Astra pulled up to a group of eight people chatting on the corner of Fábrica e São Pedro. Four masked gunmen got out from the Celtic, forced the group to lie on the ground with their hands behind their heads before opening fire on them.
Three of victims died on the spot, and two later succumbed to injuries at the Carapicuiba Hospital. Three remain hospitalized.
Police investigating the scene found shell casings from 9mm and 765 pistols, as well as needles used for cocaine. This is the sixth mass shooting to take place in greater Sao Paulo this year. — Reuters
