SINGAPORE, Dec 8 — A riot broke out along Race Course Road around 10pm in Little India, prompting authorities to dispatched at least three busloads of riot police to contain the situation, as reported by The Straits Times online portal today. Several vehicles, including police cars and an ambulance, were toppled or burnt. The rioting mob is believed to consist of mainly foreign workers.

It is believed that the riot began shortly after a Bangladeshi worker was hit by a bus. The first responders to the accident were believed to be attending to the victim when the riot started. There were reports of explosions at the scene.

“Police officers are at scene and are dealing with the situation. The public is advised to keep away from the affected area. Further updates will be given when available,” said the police in a statement provided to Today Online
