KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 4 — The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is currently going on in Las Vegas. Acer announced its usual slew of laptop updates while also having a few surprises up its sleeve.

Laptop updates, anyone?

Acer laptops saw a refresh in multiple lines. The Swift laptops, made for those who want super portable machines, have a new addition with the Swift Go.

The new Swift Go models come in two variations in the Swift Go 16 and the Swift Go 14 with OLED displays in 16-inch and 14-inch sizes respectively and powered by Intel 13-gen H-core processors.

Need more power? Look instead at the Swift X 15 that supports Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 discrete GPUs and comes with a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display.

The Swift 14 gets a design tweak as well as two nice colours — Mist Green and Steam Blue. Weighing just 1.2kg, the ultra sleek machine has two touchscreen options. Choose between WQXGA (2560x1600) or WUXGGA (1920x1200) resolutions.

Biking at your desk

Standing desks were and still are a fairly popular option. Bike desks existed but weren’t quite as prominent but Acer is trying to change that with its own eKinekt BD 3.

What it does is use your cycling energy to keep your laptop and other devices charged.

You also get an app and LCD display to help you see just how many calories you’re burning as you bike.

There’s customisable options in the seat, bike resistance as well as desk height.

As for ports there is one USB Type-C port, two USB Type-A ports, a beverage holder and a bag hook.

It’s priced at US$999 but there’s no indication as yet if we’ll see this here.
