KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 ― Vivo has introduced its new midrange smartphones, the Vivo V25 series, in Malaysia today. Two phones are being offered ― the regular V25 and the lower-priced V25e, representing mild spec revisions over the V23 and V23e respectively and offering high megapixel counts for the selfie cameras.

Vivo V25 series Malaysia price and availability

Both models are available in just a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The prices for the two devices are:

Vivo V25 specs and features

The Vivo V25 replaces the V23, which itself was just introduced in January. The specs are largely identical to its predecessor save for the processor, which has actually been downgraded from the MediaTek Dimensity 920 to the Dimensity 900. The RAM has also dropped from 12GB to 8GB, although storage capacity is the same at 256GB.

Like the V23, the V25 comes with a triple camera setup at the rear, consisting of a 64MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro shooter. But the focus is at the front, where the V25 gets a 50MP selfie camera, although the V23’s second 8MP ultra-wide has been ditched.

Juicing the V25 is a 4,500mAh battery that supports 44W of FlashCharge power. Sitting at the front of the device is a 6.44-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a teardrop cutout for the selfie camera, a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. Other features include 5G connectivity, an in-display fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. The V25 ships with Android 12, skinned with the FunTouch OS 12.

The V25 retains the flat front, back and sides of the V23, along with a rectangular camera bump. As with its predecessor, the phone gets a Fluorite AG glass back that can change colours depending on the lighting conditions, although this is only applicable to the Aquamarine Blue and Sunrise Gold models. A Diamond Black variant is also available.

The slight spec downgrade versus the V23 is countered by its RM1,799 price, which is significantly lower than the RM2,099 its predecessor went for at launch, although the latter is now available at RM1,899 on the official Lazada and Shopee stores.

Vivo V25e specs and features

As for the V25e, it’s a replacement for the V23e that was launched last December. There’s no 5G model this time around; the sole 4G variant uses an upgraded MediaTek Helio G99 instead of the V23e’s G96. Meanwhile, the main camera remains the same 64MP unit as before, although you no longer get an 8MP ultra-wide; a 2MP depth sensor takes its place. There’s still a 2MP macro shooter, but the selfie camera is now a 32MP unit instead of 50MP.

Making up for the downgraded cameras is the far larger 4,500mAh battery that’s identical to the V25, and which can be fast charged using 44W of power. Again, the V25e gets an in-display fingerprint sensor and Bluetooth 5.2, but no NFC this time around. The phone runs on Android 12 and FunTouch OS 12 out of the box. The V25e gets the same design as the V25 but is only available in Sunrise Gold and Diamond Black. ― SoyaCincau
