NEW YORK, July 5 — BuzzFeedBlue shows how popular video game characters have changed, or evolved, over the years.

The first version of Mario from the popular Nintendo series Super Mario Bros shows Mario as an 8-bit character in 1985.

30 years later, Mario’s look has been updated to a smooth, colourful 3D rendering with shading and texture.

The video compares other popular video game characters like Zelda, Lara Croft and even Pac-Man.
