NAGOYA, Sept 17 — The National Sports Council (NSC) has tightened its Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for transport and food provision to ensure service disruptions do not affect the operations and welfare of the Malaysian contingent at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
In a statement today, NSC said the measures were introduced following several reported issues that could potentially disrupt operations during the Games.
Under the revised SOP, team managers have been given clear guidelines on what to do if disruptions to transport or food services affect the movement and needs of athletes and officials.
“For transport, if vehicles provided by the organisers are delayed by more than one hour and the situation could affect the team’s movement, team managers may use e-hailing services as alternative transport based on necessity and reasonable rates.
“For food provision, if food supplied by the organisers is insufficient or unavailable, NSC will provide Ready-to-Eat (RTE) meals as an alternative,” it said.
If the RTE meals are still insufficient, team managers may obtain alternative food for their respective teams based on the needs and number of athletes and officials involved.
“All use of alternative transport or purchases of alternative food must be recorded and supported by original receipts or proof of payment for record-keeping and reimbursement purposes.
“The SOP is a preparedness measure to address any service disruptions and does not replace the transport and food facilities already provided by the organisers,” it said. — Bernama
