SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — The Selangor 2026 Malaysia Games (Sukma) and Para Sukma Organising Committee today postponed four para sports events after the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading reached an unhealthy level of 169 as of noon.
Organising Committee deputy chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi said the decision was made following advice from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the Selangor State Health Department and a special technical committee which has been monitoring the situation from time to time.
“The API readings in Shah Alam and Klang as of noon today showed an unhealthy level of 169.
“This has forced the Selangor Para Sukma organisers to postpone four sports: athletics at the UiTM Stadium; swimming at the Selangor Aquatic Complex; archery at the Selangor State Youth and Sports Complex (Kombes); and lawn bowls at Bayuemas, Klang,” he said in a statement today.
He said updates on the postponement and resumption of the events would be announced from time to time, depending on the API readings in the areas where the competitions are being held.
The Selangor Para Sukma competition began yesterday, and some of events held this morning were athletics, powerlifting, archery, badminton, boccia, table tennis, chess and lawn bowls. — Bernama
