KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 — Fourteen-year-old forward Lim You produced a stunning individual performance, netting seven goals as the Malayan Tigress Under-17s dismantled Saudi Arabia 9-0 in their final Group A match at the 2026 Srikandi Merdeka Cup in Kudus, Indonesia, yesterday.
Lim You’s dominance was highlighted by a clinical free kick from outside the penalty area, with footage of her goals quickly gaining traction across social media.
Her scoring spree spanned the match, finding the net in the eighth, 22nd, 27th, 57th, and 75th minutes from the penalty spot, before adding two more in the 83rd and 85th minutes.
Putri Mia Alysa Ahmad Zakiyamani and Ku Nur Qaleysha Qaisara Ku Zainon completed the rout with goals in late in the first and second halves, respectively.
Despite being reduced to 10 players in the 21st minute following a red card for Dishanna Pillay, the side coached by Fairuz Montana Zainal Abidin maintained their dominance throughout the encounter.
The victory ensures Malaysia finishes as Group A runners-up. While they ended the group stage on four points, level with Hong Kong, they advance to the semi-finals on goal difference.
Malaysia’s campaign began with a goalless draw against Hong Kong, followed by a 3-0 defeat to the hosts, Garuda Pertiwi.
The Malayan Tigress will face the winners of Group B in Friday’s semi-finals, with Thailand, Jordan, and Singapore still in contention ahead of today's final group matches.
The Srikandi Merdeka Cup is an international Under-16 women’s football tournament aimed at giving young female players a platform to compete, develop, and showcase their talent on the global stage.
