KUCHING, Oct 31 — Former Sarawak head coach Alan Vest, who guided the Crocs through their golden era in the 1990s, passed away today at the age of 86.

As of press time, no official statement has been issued on his passing. However, several former players and supporters have taken to social media to express their condolences and share fond memories of the legendary coach.

The English-born Australian, who helmed the state team from 1992 to 1998, is widely credited as the driving force behind Sarawak’s rise to national prominence.

His tenure marked the pinnacle of what fans fondly remember as the “Bujang Senang era”, when Sarawak emerged as one of Malaysia’s most formidable and feared football sides.

During that period, Vest nurtured a strong mix of local talent and impactful foreign players, with packed crowds regularly filling the Sarawak Stadium to cheer the Crocs on.
