CLUJ-NAPOCA (Romania), Oct 17 — Russian Anna Blinkova sealed her first WTA title on Sunday with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win over Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in the final of the event in Cluj.

The world number 138, who came through two rounds of qualifying before even reaching the main draw, overcame a second-set blip in her first Tour-level final.

Blinkova eased through the opening set before dropping her serve three times in the second.

But she completed victory with a run of four straight games in the decider. — AFP
