PETALING JAYA, Jan 20 — Malaysia’s hopes of advancing to the semi-finals of the AFC Under-23 Championship were dashed after the national team was beaten by South Korea 2-1 in the quarter-finals today at the Kunshan Stadium in China.

South Korea’s Cho Jae-wan scored in the first minute and Malaysia’s equaliser came in the 67th minute with a goal from N. Thanabalan.

Han Seung-gyu’s netted the winner in the 85th minute.
