PANDAN INDAH, Oct 20 — Indonesian Aiman Cahyadi of Malaysian Team Sapura Cycling (TSC) won stage three of Tour de Selangor from Shah Alam to Pandan Indah yesterday.

TSC is a Malaysian UCI Continental cycling team founded in January with major backing from Sapura Holdings Berhad.

The 24-year-old Aiman said he has not been back home in Bandung for more than two months for the sake of cycling.

“I’ve been in Malaysia for the KL SEA Games, represented Indonesia in road race but failed to shine,” he said.

“Then I went home for just a few days and back to Malaysia again to prepare for the recently concluded Jelajah Malaysia.

“In Jelajah Malaysia, I also failed to win a stage.

“However, today, my hard work paid off as I won the stage for the first time in my professional career,” said Aiman, who is determined to race in Malaysia as he loves the country.

Before joining TSC, Aiman was with Indonesia’s Pegasus Continental for a year from 2015.

Aiman clocked a time of 2’39:19s yesterday to take the solo win.

Malaysia National Team’s Bakri Sofian Nabil Omar was second while Sitra Kelantan State Cycling Team’s Saufi Mat Senan came in third with both riders clocking the time of 2’39:27s.

When asked what his advantage was in yesterday’s triumph, Aiman said: “Practice makes perfect.

“Since I’m in Malaysia, I always ride in Bukit Ampang and Bukit Hantu. So my advantage is that route ... which to me is my route,” he laughed.

Aiman said TSC’s main focus is to maintain its Yellow Jersey held by Zawawi Azman.

“We managed to still held that yellow jersey and I won today. So it’s a incredible win for the team,” he added.

Stage four today will see Shah Alam as the starting point to Kuala Kubu Baru.
