KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 — National mixed doubles pair Lai Pei Jing/Tan Kian Meng have set their sights on qualifying for the World Championships in Scotland from Aug 21-27.

Pei Jing-Kian Meng, currently ranked world number nine need to move into the top eight bracket to qualify for the World Championships in Scotland.

The duo need to make it to the quarterfinals of Super Series tournaments to collect as many points as possible to qualify for the championships by improving their ranking.

“If we play in Grand Prix Gold tournaments, points are awarded only in the final but to make it to the final will not be an easy task. We have discussed with our coach to compete in as many Super Series tournaments,” said Pei Jing after a training session at the Academy Badminton Malaysia in Bukit Kiara, here today.

The duo, winners of the Masters Malaysia in Sibu last month, will compete in the National Championships in Ulu Kinta, Perak (Feb 19-25) before participating in the German Open (Feb 28 to March 5) before heading to the All England from March 7-12. — Bernama
