KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 — CIMB Group chairman Datuk Seri Nazir Razak confirmed yesterday he has been appointed to the English football team Queens Park Rangers FC’s board of directors.

The brother of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has joined QPR Holdings Ltd, the holding company for QPR FC, according to the football club’s website.

Nazir, a self-professed fan of QPR’s London rival Chelsea FC, was delighted with the appointment and posted a picture of a report with QPR’s Loftus Road Stadium on his Instagram.

Datuk Seri Johan Raslan, a chartered accountant of Malaysian-British ancestry, also joined the board together with Nazir.

Nazir joins his long-time friend and AirAsia group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Air Asia chairman Datuk Kamaruddin Meranun, and Westports chief executive officer Ruben Emir Gnanalingam on QPR’s board.

QPR is currently placed 15th on the EFL Championship, the second-tier league in English football.
