KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 — Minister of Youth and Sports Khairy Jamaluddin will propose to the Cabinet to establish a sports university in a bid to produce more athlete and to further develop the sports industry.

He said the proposal was seen to be timely, but it would depend on the government’s financial situation.

“I agree (to establish a sports university). I will take the proposal to the Cabinet because it is quite timely to have a sports university,” he said when winding up the debate on the Supply Bill 2017 for his ministry at the Dewan Rakyat here today.

Earlier, Datuk Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid (BN-Kota Tinggi) interjected Khairy’s winding up speech, saying that it was high time for the government to consider establishing a sports university in the country.

Khairy, however, did not say when the proposal would be tabled to the Cabinet. — Bernama
