KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 — The National Sports Institute (ISN) are keen to discuss with local nutritional product manufacturers if they can help improve the performance of athletes.

Its Sports Performance Division director, Dr P. Vellapandian, said this was relevant to convince athletes who preferred foreign products as they are used to it during training, and in local and international tournaments.

“If we want to be assured of the effectiveness of products such as Hydrofit Nutrition, we must discuss with the athletes who used them for a long time,” he said after presenting certificates to participants of a seminar organised by Hydrofit Nutrition at Wisma OCM here today.

“Only then, we can encourage the elite national athletes to use the products.”

Vellapandian said they had held preliminary talks with former national weightlifter Firdaus Abdul Razak, the founder of Hydrofit Nutrition.

Firdaus said Hydrofit Nutrition has been used by some national powerlifters and national weightlifters and has proven to aid them in their training.

“Some of them can see the result after a few days of using the products, especially in terms of endurance. Our products are also free of banned substances,” he said.

Firdaus did not dismiss the possibility of sponsoring several athletes from other sports in future but did not disclose the type of sport.
