KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 31 — National men’s doubles pair Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong ended a seven-month title drought by winning the men’s doubles title at the Syed Modi International Grand Prix Gold in Lucknow, India, tonight.

V Shem/Wee Kiong faced tough resistance from Indian pair Jerry Pranaav Chopra/Akshay Dewalkar before walking out with a 14-21, 24-22, 21-8 victory in just more than an hour.

It was only the second Badminton World Federation title for the duo after the United States Grand Prix Gold title since both became partners in 2014 although they were the gold medal winners at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

With the win in Lucknow, V Shem/Wee Kiong pocketed US$9,400 (RM40,420) while the Indian pair coached by former national coach Tan Kim Her received US$4,560 after the match, which was telecast live. — Bernama
