KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 — The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) agreed with the action taken by FIFA, which ordered six points to be deducted from the Pahang team over a dispute involving their import player.
The world football governing body had made the decision after studying the case of Pahang import player Mohamed Borji, whose contract was unlawfully terminated in 2013.
FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said that the decision was made by the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber after it scrutinised all the supporting documents from the Morocco-born player and the Pahang Football Association (Pahang FA).
He said Borji’s case and the penalty imposed on the Pahang FA were also tabled before FAM president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad when he chaired the FAM exco meeting here on Tuesday.
“Tengku Abdullah himself and all the exco members agreed with the decision (by FIFA) after studying the case,” he said in a statement issued today.
Hamidin denied the claim made by Pahang FC Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Fahrizal Hassan recently that FAM had failed to submit to the C-06 form (agreement to terminate contract) to FIFA.
He said all the supporting documents including the C-06 form dated April 1, 2013, submitted by the Pahang FA to FAM had been sent to FIFA on May 14, 2013.
On Tuesday, FAM deputy president Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah announced that Pahang had been deducted six points in the Super League when their FA failed to make the salary and compensation payments to Borji after his contract was illegally terminated.
The decision saw Pahang drop one step to third spot on the standings with 38 points while Selangor, with 39 points, became the Super League runners-up, behind the champions, Johor Darul Ta’zim.
Pahang also face the risk of being demoted to the Premier League next season if they fail to settle the arrears in salary and compensation totalling RM526,000 to Borji. — Bernama
