PETALING JAYA, July 13 — National Sports Council (NSC) director general Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail said athletes' hostels in Bukit Jalil will also be closed for renovations next month. He said some of the athletes will need to move out.
“We will refurbish all of our three hostels (Casa 1,2,3), but the renovations works will be done by phases,” he said.
“But at the moment we still waiting for the tender and hopefully it can happen in August.
“Currently NSC are relocating the athletes.”
Asked whether they need to stay outside of NSC, Shapawi said some might need to.
“If the renovations starts at Casa 1, we will make an adjustment for them to move into Casa 2 or 3. The athletes will be relocated within compound.
“However, if they require training outside NSC, like the bowling team which train in Sunway Pyramid, then it’s better for them to stay outside.
“We will decide later where they will stay. But it’s better for the bowlers to stay out of NSC and near their training location.
“This to give space for other athletes who train at NSC.”
