PUTRAJAYA, July 2 — The Youth and Sports Ministry has received proposals for upgrading and refurbishment work involving the National Sports Complex (NSC) in Bukit Jalil but has yet to award the project said its minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

“It was an open bidding process and the proposal will be evaluated based on value,” he said, adding that the exercise would be concluded by August, after launching the Reebok Spartan race, here today.

He was asked to comment on a report that the Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) was tipped to get the job of refurbishing the 17-year-old National Stadium and other venues at Bukit Jalil.

Khairy said the upgrading of the National Sports Complex would be done in two phases and fully completed by 2019.

The first phase, which focus on refurbishment and upgrading works, would be completed before the 29th SEA Games in 2017, he said.

The second phase would be carried out after the SEA Games in 2017, which includes the construction of new sports venues or new exhibition halls, he said. — Bernama
