PETALING JAYA, June 29  — FA of Malaysia (FAM) said it was a secretariat error in stating the wrong prize money for the Felda FAM Futsal Cup.

The body, however, is adamant they will not change their decision on the prize money.

The FAM Futsal chairman Datuk Yusoff Mahadi admitted he himself was not aware of the mistake.

“We admit it is silly and it’s the biggest mistake that has been made my our secretariat,” he said, when contacted yesterday.

“The prize money is the same as last year — RM50,000 and RM30,000 for the champions and runners-up, respectively.

“However, our secretariat erred and printed it as RM100,000 and RM60,000.”

Yesterday, Mailsport reported FAM could face a legal action from teams after halving the amount.

Yusoff was quick to say FAM had no intentions to slash the prize money.

“FAM are aware of the chaos and the winners felt they have been cheated.

“The point of the letter we issued on Thursday was to explain the error.

“We hope the winners can understand the situation and continue to play futsal as a sport and not for money.”

Yusoff also said FAM will not hold any meetings to discuss this issue.

“We will stick to the same prize as last year, which is RM50,000 and RM30,000, respectively.

“We hope the winners will understand.” — Wan Noriza Meor Idris
