IPOH, April 16 ― A New Straits Times Press (NSTP) photographer was injured on the leg when hit by a hard object thrown by a football supporter at the end of the Perak-JDT Super League match at the Perak Stadium, here, tonight.
The victim, Supian Ahmad, was hit by the object while taking pictures of a commotion in the stadium.
Meanwhile, Sinar Harian cameraman Razif Rosli was struck by firecrackers on his leg while a policeman was injured in the eye by a flying object in the melee.
When the game ended, JDT supporters were ordered not to get out of the stadium yet for fear of a commotion taking place.
However, a commotion later sparked off between supporters of both teams who threw various objects including firecrackers at each other.
The Federal Reserve Unit was forced to fire tear gas when the Perak supporters refused to disperse.
Four buses of supporters and officials of JDT were escorted by police out of the stadium.
It was learnt that police detained four Perak supporters for provocative actions after the match. ― Bernama
