KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 — The High Court today scheduled April 23 for the hearing of a suit by former Kuala Lumpur footballer Hafizi Roslee against the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) over a life ban for match fixing.
Judicial Commissioner Rosilah Yop set the date in chambers in the presence of Hafizi's lawyer Kevin De Rozario.
Kevin told the media that the court also set March 31 for the filing of affidavits by both the parties.
On February 26, Hafizi, 29, filed an originating summons against FAM and the
Football Association of Kuala Lumpur, seeking to quash the decision to ban him for life from any football activities.
Hafizi is further seeking to declare the 2012 edition of the FAM disciplinary code as unconstitutional, arbitrary and contrary to justice and public policy.
He is also seeking to declare as null and void a hearing conducted by FAM in his absence on December 20, 2013.
On Dec 20 last year, Hafizi and four other Kuala Lumpur players were banned for life and fined RM20,000 by the FAM Disciplinary Committee after being found guilty of corruption and match-fixing.
The four other players were Jeremy Danker, Khairul Anuar Shafie, Fadhlullah Yunsifar and Phoo Kai Lun.
Apart from them, Kuala Lumpur chief coach, Stanislav Lieskovsky of Slovakia, assistant coach Rosli Omar and team officer Saari Jani were also found guilty and received the same punishment from FAM. — Bernama
