PETALING JAYA, Feb 19 — The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has banned fans from bringing in flares and sticks to stadiums during M-League matches.
FAM Security Committee chairman Datuk Salleh Mat Rasid who chaired the committee’s first meeting at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya, here, today said action would be taken against anyone found flouting the law.
“CCTV cameras will be installed in all stadiums. Bringing in flares is against the law and with CCTV in service our surveillance will be better. Sticks used in banners are also banned because it can pose a danger to others.
“Police will monitor the activities of the fans and spot anyone bringing in flares,” he said.
Salleh also urged the FAM to be firm in enforcing penalties and review the current punishment meted out for certain offences.
He said police would also provide additional personnel at stadiums for matches deemed ‘high risk’ or teams that have a large number of fans. — Bernama
