KUCHING, Jan 7 — The Sarawak Football Association is gearing up for online ticketing for the Malaysia League matches throughout the 2014 season in an effort to avoid pandemonium at tickets counters.

Its deputy president, Datuk Mohd Abu Bakar Marzuki said 50 per cent of the tickets would be sold online in partnership with MyElink Sdn Bhd while the remaining tickets could still be purchased at the counters.

He said bookings for season passes for matches involving Sarawak held at the State Stadium here was already open while that of individual purchases, 10 days before the matches.

“For individual purchases, each individual is restricted to five tickets. However, for hot matches, each individual is limited to only two tickets,” he told a news conference here today.

Mohd Abu Bakar said as Sarawakians would be given priority to buy tickets online, their identity card numbers were needed to make the reservation.

“Once the transaction is completed, buyers will be given the booking number and can collect their tickets one day before the matches at Wisma Hopoh, Sarawak Plaza, the State Stadium or Kuching Sentral Bus Terminal, all in Kuching,” he said.

Meanwhile, MyElink chief operating officer Dr Wong Wing Seong said so far, 10 season passes had already been booked and the company was gearing up for individual ticket bookings for the first FA Cup match between Sarawak and Penang on January 21.

Fans can make online bookings at Sarawak FA official website or via this link.

On crowd rowdyism, Mohd Abu Bakar advised Sarawak fans to refrain from letting off firecrackers and flares to avoid the Sarawak FA from being punished again and again by the Football Association of Malaysia.

The Sarawak FA had been slapped with fines totalling RM200,000 for fans misconduct during Super League matches last season, he said, adding that the association would have to fork out between RM30,000 and RM40,000 in fine each time fans misbehaved themselves.  — Bernama
