GEORGE TOWN, Jan 2 — About 1,500 cyclists are expected to participate in the “Ride for Sight 2014” on April 13 at Straits Quay here.

St Nicholas Home executive director Daniel Soon said the event, jointly organised with G-Club Penang Cyclists, will also see visually-impaired people cycling on 30 tandem bicycles, guided by voluntary able-sighted riders.

“We hope this event will promote the idea that we can and should expect our visually impaired friends to achieve their fullest potential in life...with a bit of help from us, they can do many things,” he told reporters today.

The participation fee is RM50 per person and the event organisers target to raise RM180,000 for this fourth edition bikeathon.

The 25km event starts from Straits Quay and the route includes Bagan Jermal Road, Padang Polo, Gurney Drive, Kelawei Road, Tanjong Tokong and back to Straits Quay.

Online registration for the event via www.snh.org.my from today until March 10, or contact 04-2290800 for further information. — Bernama
