KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 — The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) will be sending a national squad capable of defending the gold medal at the SEA Games in Myanmar next month even though the list of national players to the games maybe revamped.

MHC senior vice-president Datuk Nur Azmi Ahmad said MHC would not take lightly the competition in Myanmar even though the national team would be facing two other major challenges at the same time.

“We will not be sending the Under-15 or Under-18 squad. The team in action in Myanmar is of gold medal prospect,” he said when contacted by Bernama on the line-up for the biennial games.

It is learned that MHC has sent to the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) a list comprising the same key players at the Asia Cup in Ipoh last August.

However, the move clashes with the plans of youth squad coach Muhammad Dharma Raj Abdullah,  who will be fielding five players in the list for the Junior World Cup in New Delhi from Dec 5.

“Whatever it is, the national squad list to SEA Games has not been decided. Our priority is the Junior World Cup. The matter is being discussed,” Nur Azmi said. — Bernama
