ALOR SETAR, Sept 2 — A 0-4 defeat to Sarawak in Kuching on Saturday does not dampen the spirit of Kedah footballers in their quest to advance to the quarter-finals in the Malaysia Cup.
Kedah adviser Datuk Othman Aziz said Kedah would make amends in their two remaining matches at home and in Ipoh.
“The loss to Sarawak was a big blow to us, but the players must continue to fight with resolve as we still have a fighting chance to make it.
“We need to win the two remaining matches and I believe magic can happen,” he told reporters at an Aidilfitri-Merdeka open house hosted by the Muda Agricultural Development Authority) here, yesterday.
He said Kedah were made up of good material and the weaknesses could be remedied.
“The players have great skills but lacking in cooperation, understanding, the spirit to win and self-confidence.
“The players need to cultivate a burning desire to win. Otherwise, they will not play with a determination to win,” he added.
