KOTA BARU, Aug 5 — Kelantan footballers are getting ‘duit raya’ worth RM600,000 for winning the FA Cup for the second consecutive year and booking a berth in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup next season.

Suspended Kelantan Football Association (Kafa) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the bonus, which would be disbursed before Aidilfitri, would be the highest ever paid by Kafa to the players after deducting administrative expenses for the FA Cup final recently.

“Fourteen players will get a bonus of RM30,000 each while non-playing footballers and Kafa officers will share the balance of M420,000,” he told reporters at the breaking of fast with the Red Warriors and the media here, last night.

Annuar said the bonus was a recognition of the players’ hard work in retaining the FA Cup and raising the Red Warriors’ stature as one of the feared teams in the country.

He thanked the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for making the payment to enable the bonus to be disbursed to Kelantan footballers before Aidilfitri.

“The bonus will enable the players to prepare for Hari Raya. I have reminded them not to be extravagant and be thrifty for their own future,” he added.

Present were Kafa deputy president Datuk Affandi Hamzah, vice-president Datuk Ismail Mohd Nor, secretary-general Azman Ibrahim and coaches headed by Bojan Hodak. — Bernama
