SINGAPORE, Sept 1 — Ten men aged between 28 and 77 are due to be charged in court today for allegedly committing outrage of modesty, including against two victims with intellectual disabilities in separate cases.
The Straits Times reported that a 76-year-old man allegedly molested a 16-year-old girl with severe intellectual disability at a sheltered walkway in Clementi Avenue 3 on October 25, 2025.
The man, who was a friend of a family member of the girl, was arrested at the scene after two bystanders witnessed the alleged incident and called the police.
In a separate case, a 40-year-old man allegedly molested a 21-year-old woman with intellectual disability on September 25, 2025, when they were colleagues.
The alleged incident took place at a garbage disposal room of a nursery in Jalan Lekar, near Choa Chua Kang, with police informed on the same day and the suspect arrested within two hours.
Both men are due to face one count each of outrage of modesty involving a vulnerable person.
The remaining eight suspects are also due to be charged with outrage of modesty, police said in a statement on August 31.
Those convicted of outrage of modesty can be jailed for up to three years, fined, caned, or receive any combination of these punishments.
Those who target vulnerable persons or domestic workers may face up to twice the maximum punishment upon conviction.
Police said several of the 10 cases involved bystanders, friends, security personnel or members of the public intervening, providing assistance or promptly alerting the authorities.
“Their actions helped to safeguard victims, preserve evidence and facilitated swift police action,” police said.
