SINGAPORE, Aug 5 — Four people have been arrested for alleged abduction and possession of a scheduled weapon after a man was threatened with a parang during a dispute over a car rental agreement, The Straits Times reported.
The report said police were alerted to the incident at a carpark along Canberra Street at about 1.55am yesterday after the victim was allegedly confronted by a group of four people.
Preliminary investigations showed that a 38-year-old man from the group had held a parang and threatened the victim, who was then made to sit in the front passenger seat of a vehicle.
The victim was allegedly driven to another location by the 38-year-old man, while another man, aged 36, sat in the rear of the vehicle.
According to The Straits Times, officers from the Woodlands Police Division later located the victim’s vehicle. The 38-year-old man allegedly fled in the vehicle with the two passengers, leading to a police chase.
The vehicle subsequently collided with a lamp post at the junction of Woodlands Avenue 7 and Woodlands Avenue 10. The 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene, while the 36-year-old man fled before being arrested later.
Two women, aged 30 and 38, were also arrested separately during follow-up investigations.
