SINGAPORE, Aug 3 — Travellers to Singapore can expect very heavy traffic at the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints during the country’s National Day long weekend from August 7 to 10, 2026, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said.
In an advisory posted on its portal, the ICA urged travellers to plan their journeys in advance, travel during non-peak hours where possible, and check traffic conditions at the land checkpoints before embarking on their journey.
“During the recent Hari Raya Haji, Vesak Day weekend and June school holidays (May 26 to June 28), more than 18 million travellers crossed Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.
“Traveller volume peaked on June 19, with more than 598,000 travellers clearing immigration through the land checkpoints in a single day, setting a new record and surpassing the previous peak of close to 589,000 crossings on December 19, 2025,” it said on Monday.
Meanwhile, ahead of Singapore’s National Day celebrations, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will deliver his National Day Message on Saturday, Aug 8, 2026, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said today.
Singapore will celebrate its 61st National Day on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
In a statement, the PMO said Wong’s speech will be broadcast in English at 6.45pm on the CNA television channel and CNA938 radio.
Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong will deliver the National Day Message in Mandarin at 7pm via Channel 8 and Capital 958 radio, followed by Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Zaqy Mohamad, who will deliver the Malay-language message at 8.30 pm on the Suria television channel.
Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth and Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash will deliver the Tamil-language message at 9 pm via Vasantham channel and Oli 968 radio on Saturday. — Bernama
