SINGAPORE, July 25 — Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the United States (US) Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Friday inked an agreement to deepen cooperation in combating online scams, cyber-enabled fraud and money-laundering cases.
SPF said the agreement reflects its long-standing and strong collaboration with the FBI, with both agencies cooperating in joint operations, information sharing, training, capacity-building and mutual assistance to combat transnational crimes.
“The signing of the memorandum of understanding symbolises the SPF and the FBI’s shared resolve and strengthening of our partnership to interdict and to disrupt criminal syndicates targeting its citizens,” it said on Friday.
The SPF highlighted that both agencies share common values and objectives and have worked closely on various initiatives over the past few years.
“Most recently in July 2026, the SPF Cyber Command and the FBI successfully concluded a joint operation targeting transnational cryptocurrency scams affecting victims in Singapore and the US.
“Through information sharing and exchange of blockchain intelligence, the SPF and the FBI identified 54 victims and potential victims of scams and worked together to prevent losses of US$2.7 million (US$1=RM4.09) in the US and S$388,000 (S$1=RM3.16) in Singapore,” it added. — Bernama
