SINGAPORE, May 29 — A former Singapore police officer who molested a teenage boy while disguised as a woman and secretly recorded two other 15-year-olds performing sexual acts on video calls has been sentenced to three years in jail and four strokes of the cane.

Sharizal Shafi’ee, 40, pleaded guilty to five charges including molestation and voyeuristic recording, with 10 other similar offences involving at least three more victims taken into consideration. He was sentenced today, according to The Straits Times (ST).

The court heard that on April 18, 2024, Sharizal — dressed in women’s clothing and wearing make-up — approached students at a secondary school, asking for help adjusting his bra.

When a 15-year-old boy agreed, the former officer led him to a nearby Housing Board staircase landing and molested him.

He was arrested 10 days later after police tracked him down.

Investigations revealed that Sharizal had recorded at least 32 men performing sexual acts on his phone. He also admitted to posing as a woman on social media to communicate with other males.

In 2023, he befriended a 15-year-old boy online and convinced him to perform a sex act on a video call, secretly recording the more than 12-minute session. He repeated the act with another 15-year-old boy in April 2024.

Sharizal had served with the Singapore Police Force for 17 years. The police told ST that he was removed from front-line duties before resigning in June 2024.
