KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Sony Pictures’ 2026 Resident Evil has climbed to the top of the Malaysian box office, with the new adaptation continuing to draw positive reviews and strong audience interest nationwide.

It was another busy week for Malaysian entertainment, with local film Chelot, though moved down to second place, continuing to attract audiences to cinemas.

South Korean drama Hope takes third, followed by Astro Shaw’s Terbang in fourth, giving Malaysian productions a strong presence in this week’s cinema rankings.

That momentum extends to streaming, where Netflix Malaysia’s chart is led by Kudrat 1968: High Council and Project: High Council, while Malaysian animated series Kisah Bawah Tanah has also broken into the top five.

Cinta Dalam Sekam remains Viu’s most-watched title, while the newly released Dia Perempuan Sialan (The Hidden Hand) makes a strong debut at No. 2.
