TAIPEI, Aug 18 — Jay Chou may be used to calling the shots behind the camera, but the Mandopop superstar found himself playing a very different role this week — as his four-year-old daughter’s make-up canvas.
The 47-year-old singer-songwriter shared the hilarious father-daughter episode on social media yesterday after youngest child Jacinda decided she wanted to try her hand at cosmetics.
Her original target was mum Hannah Quinlivan, but with the model heading out for the morning, Jay stepped in.
“I want you to do my make-up too!” he told his daughter.
That was apparently all the encouragement Jacinda needed.
She promptly dragged her famous father into older sister Hathaway’s room, opened a small make-up bag and set to work.
“It felt like she was grabbing whatever tool she saw; I was like a canvas that she could freely paint on,” Jay recalled.
He admitted he already had a fairly good idea of where the makeover was heading — but even that did not quite prepare him for the final result.
“I couldn’t help but swallow my cursing,” he said after seeing himself in the mirror.
Jacinda, meanwhile, was looking for approval.
“I stammered, telling her ‘It’s quite interesting.’ She asked me again, ‘Is it good?’ I could only say, ‘It’s good.’”
But the four-year-old was not finished.
Sitting beside her father in front of the mirror, she delivered what may have been the most ruthless beauty verdict of all.
“Am I beautiful? I am more beautiful [than you].”
Jay did take a photograph of Jacinda’s handiwork — but anyone hoping to judge the transformation for themselves may be disappointed.
He made it clear in his hashtags that the picture would never see the light of day.
Hannah, 33, was considerably less willing to let him off the hook.
“Enough of this long-winded rambling, I just want to see the finished product,” she joked in the comments.
Jay and Hannah married in January 2015 and welcomed their first child, Hathaway, six months later.
Their son Romeo followed in 2017, while Jacinda is the youngest of their three children.
