SEOUL, Aug 14 — Blackpink member Lisa has come under the spotlight after posting photographs from an apparent US trip as fans continued to voice disappointment over the group’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
Kbizoom.com, citing Naver, reported that Blackpink marked its 10th debut anniversary on August 8 with a fan meeting at the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan, Seoul, but some fans criticised the event over its organisation and limited access.
The gathering was reportedly announced only two days beforehand and attendance was restricted to 40 people, leaving some fans unhappy that a major milestone had not been celebrated with more of the group’s supporters.
The backlash also prompted scrutiny of how the four members responded to the criticism.
Jisoo spoke about the issue during a live broadcast with the group, saying the members had wanted to meet more fans and recognised the importance of the anniversary.
She apologised to disappointed fans and acknowledged that there appeared to have been problems with communication surrounding the event.
Rosé addressed fans on a communication platform on August 11, saying she had taken several days to decide what she wanted to say because she understood their feelings.
She said she had wanted August 8 to be a day when everyone could laugh and celebrate together, while expressing regret that the anniversary had not unfolded as hoped.
Lisa, however, made no separate public statement about the criticism on August 11 and instead uploaded a series of photographs from what appeared to be a US trip.
Captioned “Red rock therapy”, the post featured Lisa at red rock formations and aboard a yacht, with the location reportedly identified as Antelope Canyon in the Navajo Nation.
Antelope Canyon generally requires visitors to join authorised guided tours and make advance arrangements, leading to speculation that the trip had been planned before the anniversary celebrations.
However, there is no confirmed information about when Lisa took the photographs, so their August 11 publication date does not establish that she travelled to the location immediately after the fan meeting.
Lisa had shared a message of appreciation for Blackpink fans on August 8, but her later social media activity did not directly address the criticism over the anniversary event.
That difference has prompted some fans to compare the members’ responses, particularly after Jisoo and Rosé spoke directly about the disappointment while Lisa’s latest post centred on her personal activities.
The discussion has consequently shifted beyond the organisation of Blackpink’s anniversary event to the different ways the members communicate with fans, although there is no evidence that Lisa’s photographs were intended as a response to the backlash.
