KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 — Chinese actor Cheng Lei is set to meet fans in Kuala Lumpur next month, marking his first appearance in Malaysia.
Cheng will appear at Sunway Velocity Mall on September 13 at 1.30pm as part of iQIYI STARSHIP 2026, a fan engagement event organised by streaming platform iQIYI.
The event is the second Malaysian edition of iQIYI STARSHIP this year, following its inaugural session in April featuring Chinese actress Esther Yu.
Cheng, an iQIYI International global ambassador, has built an international following through his performances in Chinese dramas.
His popularity grew further following the release of How Dare You!? in February, which became one of iQIYI’s leading Chinese-language drama titles globally in the first quarter of 2026.
Blending time travel, political intrigue and romance, the series stars Cheng as Xiahou Dan, also known as Zhang San.
He also played three separate roles in the 2025 drama Shadow Love.

Malaysian fans have also responded to the announcement on iQIYI Malaysia’s official Instagram page with comments including “best September”, “Mari kita gegarkan Sunway Veloooo” and “See you soon”.
