KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 — Spider-Man: Brand New Day has grossed RM30 million during its four-day opening weekend at the Malaysian box office.

The film has now set a new record as Sony Pictures Malaysia’s biggest opening weekend of all time.

Sony Pictures Entertainment Malaysia Managing Director Simon Foo said, “With all the excitement around this film, we wanted to do our part to elevate the experience of our movie-goers with initiatives like a Spider-Man gathering at select cinemas during Spider-Man Day as well as lighting up the city with drone and fireworks performance.

“We’re thrilled to see that everyone is as excited as we are.”

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s fourth solo Spider-Man film currently holds a 98 per cent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated MCU Spider-Man film among audiences to date.

The film, which debuted nationwide on July 30, has drawn strong responses from fans and moviegoers, with many describing it as one of the year’s biggest cinematic events.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has also received positive reviews from local media following an exclusive press screening held last week.

Several events were organised in Malaysia to celebrate the film’s release, including a drone light show on July 24 and 25 at Raintree Plaza, The Exchange TRX, and HERO-CON 2026 (Spider-Man Edition), hosted by TGV Cinemas at Pavilion Damansara Heights from July 29 to Aug 2.

It is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently screening in cinemas nationwide in 2D, 3D, 4DX and ScreenX.
