KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 — Belarusian musician and songwriter Otnicka has broken his silence over claims that Indian music composer Anirudh Ravichander allegedly plagiarised his work in Tamil actor Vijay’s latest film, Leo.

Anirudh has been on the receiving end of social media users after they noticed an uncanny resemblance between Ordinary Person song in Leo with Otnicka’s Where Are You track from British period crime drama Peaky Blinders.

Otnicka’s fans have been urging him to pursue legal action against Anirudh.

On Tuesday, Otnicka said his team is looking into the matter and that he will “give an assessment” of the situation soon.

“The situation is very unclear. We are looking into this and a little later, I will give an assessment of everything that is happening.

“But, I’m not accusing anyone yet,” the musician said in an Instagram post.

Where Are You, that was released in 2020, was co-authored by Otnicka and Russian musician Artem Mikhaenkin.

According to Business Today, Otnicka also reportedly replied to an Instagram comment that the label cannot grant license to other parties without the artist’s knowledge as it does not own the song’s copyright.

However, he said no one contacted him or his team members about the matter prior to the controversy.

Anirudh has not responded to the allegations.
