KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — Malaysia’s post-hardcore band with a Nusantara flair is set to host their latest concert, titled Reimaginasi, with a symphonic twist next month.

With a "reimagined” theme, Sekumpulan Orang Gila (SOG) aims to perform a show reworked according to the imagination.

The concert will feature over 20 songs from their first extended play until their newest album, Second Voyage.

All the songs will be backed by a symphony orchestra to bring an updated and renewed experience to the audience.

The group said in a statement that 30 experienced musicians including string, woodwind and brass players were invited by SOG to participate in the concert.

“SOG’s original works featuring post-hardcore, modern rock and experimental rhythms with a Nusantara influence will sound even more epic with the addition of Western classical symphony orchestra music.”

The concert will also feature guest artists such as Shila Amzah, Naim Daniel and Asmidar.

SOG is made up of six talented young men namely Raja Nazrin Shah (guitar and vocal), Riko Agus (vocal), Raja Nazmin Shah (drums), Amsyar Saiful (guitar), Abdul Qayyum (bass) and MK Ridzuan (flute).

Speaking about the idea behind Reimaginasi, Nazrin said it started when they received an incredible reception from the fans at their first concert in October 2016 at Universiti Teknologi Mara Shah Alam.

“At that time we collaborated with the famous music director, Jennifer Thompson.

“After that, our fans kept asking us when we would organise a bigger concert, so this birthed the idea for the upcoming concert.”

He also noted that SOG has invited Thompson to return as the music director for the concert.

"It is not just based on her impressive reputation but because our synergy is so compatible.”

The concert will be held on June 17 at 8.30pm at JioSpace in Petaling Jaya.

Tickets for the concert are priced at RM80 (free-standing) and are available here.
