KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 — Award-winning alternative rock band Linkin Park will be dropping an unreleased song taken from their Meteora-era album archives on February 10.

The track titled Lost features the vocals of late frontman Chester Benington’s who passed away in July 20, 2017 at the age of 41.

The announcement came through a series of cryptic messages shared via the band’s social media accounts and official website.

Yesterday, the band shared a short snippet of a man in a gas mask, spray-painting the screen black with the line “New Linkin Park Music” appearing on screen shortly after on their social media.

What could be the unreleased track could also be heard in the background of the short snippet.

The Lost track comes just weeks before the 20th anniversary of their Meteora album which was released on March 25, 2003.

The iconic album featured some of the band’s hit songs such as Somewhere I Belong, Numb, Faint as well as Breaking The Habit.

Linkin Park has been on a hiatus since the tragic death of their frontman with their last live show was in October 2017 at their tribute concert, Linkin Park and Friends: Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington.

In April last year, the band’s co-founder Mike Shinoda via a Twitch stream which was reuploaded through a Twitter fan page said that although the band members are still in contact but said that there is no new music coming from them soon.

“The only Linkin Park news I have for you guys is..yes we talk to each other every few weeks.

“There’s no tours, there’s no music, there’s no albums in the pipeline. Okay, so let me just tell you that. So just keep in your mind that that’s not happening.

“Don’t start up the hype train, you’re going to disappoint yourself, don’t do that” Shinoda said.

Linkin Park made it big in the early 2000s with their debut album Hybrid Theory.

The band won their first Grammy award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2002 for their song Crawling while Hybrid Theory was nominated for Best Rock Album that year as well.

Linkin Park went on and won another Grammy in 2006 for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for Numb/Encore where they collaborated with rapper Jay-Z on the 3 album.
