KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 — Actor Ashton Kutcher successfully raised more than US$1 million (RM4.7 million) when he crossed the finish line in the 2022 New York City marathon yesterday.

The amount raised was for Thorn, a charity he founded to combat the sexual exploitation of children on the internet, Daily Mail reported.

He clocked in at a respectable 3:54:01 in the race, which was participated by some 50,000 other runners that took them through the streets of the Big Apple.

Kutcher, 44, said it was his first time attempting such a feat and preparing for it was not easy.

He lost 5.4 kilograms while training, which he started six months ago.

“It’s brutal on the body. Like, I got injured halfway through and now I feel like I recovered from the injury, but I’ve had a lot of help,” he said.

Adding to the pain from the injury was chafing on his chest.

The amateur athlete confessed he also found spending hours on the treadmill and outdoor paths boring.

To combat that, he launched an interview show on Peloton in which he spoke with celebrity friends such as Natalie Portman, Kim Kardashian and Kenny Chesney while working out in his basement to pass the time.
