LOS ANGELES, Aug 3 — Hit film The Secret Life of Pets is getting a sequel.
Variety reported today that the follow-up to the animated comedy is slated to hit US cinemas on July 13, 2018.
Chris Renaud and Brian Lynch will return to direct and write the script respectively.
The Secret Life of Pets has made US$400 million (RM1.6 billion) worldwide since its release last month, according to figures provided by Variety.
It also set a record for best US opening weekend for an original film, animated or otherwise, with US$104.3 million, Variety added.
The film’s voice cast includes Louis CK, Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Steve Coogan, Ellie Kemper, Bobby Moynihan, Lake Bell, Dana Carvey, Hannibal Buress, Jenny Slate and Albert Brooks.
