SINGAPORE, June 22 — Local television actress Rui En has been charged with one count driving without due care and consideration.

She told a district court today that she intends to plead guilty.

On April 12 this year, the 35-year-old had knocked over a stationary motorcycle in the carpark near Block 331, Clementi Avenue 2.

The actress had received flak for asking the motorcycle owner, Bahrom Sarmiten, 52, if he knew who she was after he confronted her.

Following the accident, Rui En apologised for her “judgmental error” and “careless driving”, and admitted that she should have handled the situation “with more tact”.

This was the second traffic accident the actress was involved in in recent months.

In January, she hit a car and the owner put up her licence plate number on social media before the actress contacted the owner and made a private settlement, Lianhe Zaobao reported.

Walking out of the court this morning, Rui En declined to comment further on the matter, only saying that it is “not convenient”.

She will be back in court on July 1.

If convicted of driving without due care or reasonable consideration, she may be jailed up to six months and/or fined up to S$1,000 (RM3,007.39). — TODAY
