LONDON, June 7 — Renee Zellweger is opening up about why she stayed away from Hollywood for close to six years and her reasoning behind it just might surprise you.
Zellweger revealed to British Vogue that she went off grid because she needed a break. “I found anonymity, so I could have exchanges with people on a human level and be seen and heard, not be defined by this image that precedes me when I walk into a room.
“You cannot be a good storyteller if you don’t have life experiences, and you can’t relate to people.”
Zellweger also revealed how difficult it was to turn down certain projects after working so hard to get to the top. “I was fatigued and wasn’t taking the time I needed to recover between projects, and it caught up with me.
“I got sick of the sound of my own voice: It was time to go away and grow up a bit.”
Zellweger will be back on the big screen this September with the release of upcoming Bridget Jones’ Baby, that will see her co-star with Emma Thompson and Patrick Dempsey.
