SINGAPORE, Jan 19 — With less than two weeks to go, Laneway Festival Singapore has announce the instalment of a fourth stage at this year’s event.
Set up with local collective Syndicate, the stage will feature local and international electronic DJs and visual artists, including Australia’s JPS, Singapore’s Mean and visual artist Brandon Tay accompanying duo Kiat & Kane on stage.
Danny Rogers, co-founder of the festival, said the idea to put up a new stage for the Singapore edition came about sometime in October last year, following a walk-through of the site. “We didn’t want it to be a token, we wanted it to be something for Singapore by Singaporeans,” he said.
“After a long brainstorming session, we decided to approach the team at Syndicate, who would no doubt deliver something magical. So, like Ghostly International in Detroit, Future Classic in Australia and our friends from London, Eat Your Own Ears and Young Turks, we invited them to collaborate with us in building a brand new stage experience that runs parallel to the Cloud Stage,” Rogers added.
Rogers said it is going to have 11 hours of non-stop tunes, and that “it’s going to be a wild street party like the early Laneway festivals”.
He added: “It’s the first time we are doing anything like this in Singapore, and we believe it will spawn a new period of us taking on unique collaborations.”
Laneway Festival Singapore happens on Jan 30 at The Meadow at Gardens By The Bay. Tickets and other details here. — TODAY
