SINGAPORE, Dec 10 — He may have transited over to the big screen, but Mr Unbelievable, a character played by Mediacorp artiste Chen Tianwen, remains the biggest star on our computer screens this year, according to YouTube.
The “Unbelievable — I so stunned like vegetable” video headed YouTube’s list of the top trending (non-music) videos in Singapore this year.
The video, on Mediacorp Channel 5’s YouTube channel, to date has more than 2.1 million views. The top trending videos of the year on YouTube are ranked based on the number of views, shares, comments and likes that it gets.
Going by the list, Singaporeans clearly love to laugh at and along with our fellow countrymen. Five of the top 10 trending non-music videos were humour-related.
Nine of the top 10 trending non-music videos in Singapore were locally produced, including a tribute to the late Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s founding Prime Minister who died in March.
Meanwhile, female singers dominated the list of top 10 trending music videos in Singapore on YouTube. Taylor Swift had two videos in the top ten, while Elliot Goulding, Sia, Jessie J and girl group Fifth Harmony also made the list.
According to YouTube, Singaporeans have increased their watchtime on the site by 50 per cent over the past year, while the hours of content uploaded have gone up by 90 per cent. The majority of YouTube’s views in Singapore (60 per cent) came from mobile devices.
